A song for Sunday: Fazil Say’s Ballade no.2, “Kumru” for the piano

I heard the very talented Steven Dodsworth playing this ballade at the Croydon and Ealing festivals a fortnight ago and it struck me as being a very unusual and beautiful piece, the style of which I have never heard before, nor had I heard of the composer, Fazil Say. Say is a Turkish composer born in 1970 in Ankara.
