We are offering lessons throughout the Summer holidays. Piano lessons are offered for a minimum of 30 minutes and are charged at current rates for piano lessons: £22 for 30 mins and £40 per hour. Book and pay for your lessons in advance with your teacher or if you are not a current student, email firstname.lastname@example.org to register. The calendar is at the end of this blog so you can choose a day and time that is convenient for you.
Lorraine is teaching on Mondays from 9.15am – 11.15am except for the 22nd & 29th of August. Gabby is teaching on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10.30am – 6.30pm. Rachel is teaching on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am – 6.30pm. A minimum booking period applies for lessons to run on each day – 1 hour for Rachel’s days and 2 hours for Gabby’s days. There is no minimum booking time for Lorraine’s days. You will be offered the earliest slot available on each day.
We are also running several Summer music activity workshops that are open to all musicians in East Dulwich, not just our students:
Summer Workshops in East Dulwich:
All workshops are priced at £20 for 2 hours and take place at Barry Road. Each workshop requires a minimum of 3 students to run.
1) Theory Workshop (Note naming, note naming, note naming!)
2) Aural Workshop
3) Performance Skills Workshop
4) Play Day – try out new instruments! Friday 2nd September and 1 other date tbc.
All workshops take places in groups of up to 5 students. The Theory Workshop for younger students will focus heavily on improving music reading skills, including tips for note naming and sight reading. Theory workshops for older students will cover Grade 1 theory requirements.
The Aural Workshop will develop ear training skills by using singing and clapping to develop rhythmic and pitch awareness. This workshop is vital for all students considering graded exams.
The Performance Workshop will give participants the opportunity to perform in front of a small audience and will offer invaluable advice on coping with nerves, memorising music and much more. Performing in public is a vital skill for any budding musician!
The Summer Play Day will give you the chance to try out lots of new instruments such as the clarinet, flute, saxophone and cello. These workshops are run by Lorraine and Barry. Non-pianists are also welcome to try out the piano. You will be able to play all the instruments as well as listen to us playing your favourite tunes – as well as some of our favourite songs on each instrument.
All new students attending our Summer workshops or piano lessons are invited to perform at our Informal Piano Concert in November at St Gabriel’s Church in Pimlico.
