Piano pieces my students are currently learning: Fazil Say, Maxence Cyrin, Tanaka, Messiaen, Ginastera

Here’s a summary of songs and pieces that my students are currently learning:

1) Ginastera – Milonga.
Ana has just started working on this piece and will be performing this at our Summer concert in 2012.

2) Fazil Say – Kumru.
Phoebe is working on this for The Beckenham Festival and also a Christmas concert at The Charter School.

3) Maxence Cyrin – Where is My Mind.
This is a piano cover of The Pixies’ song. Lots of students are learning this so you will definitely hear it played very soon – at Beckenham and our Christmas concert on 5th of November by Melita, Rachel, Phoebe or Ana!

4) Ginastera – Danza de la Moza Donoso (Dance of the Beautiful Maiden).
Another Ginastera piece that Jan is learning.

5) Gershwin – It Ain’t Necessarily So.
Quite possibly my favourite piece on the current Grade 5 ABRSM syllabus. Jan is learning this for her exam.

6) Tanaka – Northern Lights
This is a lovely piece from the Grade 3 syllabus that lots of students are learning.

7) Messiaen – La Colombe (The Dove).
Peter is learning this beautiful Messiaen piece from the Trinity Grade 8 syllabus.
