The February Half-Term Piano Medal Challenge

Our students will be aiming to learn some pieces by Graham Lynch in the half-term piano challenge. The pieces are taken from Graham’s new books, Sound Sketches, a wonderful collection of simple piano pieces that require an immense amount of expression and musical interpretation to bring to life the composer’s vision.

The pieces to learn are First Melody, North-West of Inverness and Calm. All pieces can be found in the book below which you can purchase from Musicroom.

The challenge is to learn a piece during the break and present it at a piano gathering on Friday 2nd of March at 4.00pm.

Medals are available for the most stylish performances and musical interpretations of the piece. A video of the piece is available for reference. If you would like to take part, drop me an email or see the newsletter of 19th February 2012 for more information.

I am delighted to announce that Przemek Dembski, concert pianist and performer will be judging the best performance.
