Review of our Harpsichord Masterclass with Petra Hajduchova, Friday 2nd March 2012

We held our second Harpsichord Masterclass with Petra Hajduchova yesterday at The SE22 Piano School. This class was for our Junior Harpsichordists aged 5 to 8.

Petra gave us a history of the harpsichord and how it works by pulling it apart for us and showing us the insides!

Discussing the workings of a harpsichord.

Alice and Safiya both played Babiole, a baroque A list piece from the current Grade 1 ABRSM syllabus:

Alice played Babiole by Naudot (Grade 1 ABRSM)

Safiya alos played her Grade 2 B list piece, Gavotte by Cornelius Gurlitt:

Boo played Menuet in F from Nannerl’s Notebook, also a current Grade 1 piece.

Alanna played a Bach prelude in E which we all enjoyed very much:

Hannah played a piano piece that she learned for a special half-term challenge. This piece is written by Graham Lynch.
