On the 5th of March 2011, Rachel Bishop started teaching at The SE22 Piano School. Rachel’s specialism is Early Years Foundation Stage piano teaching for children aged 3+. Demand for her time has been nothing short of overwhelming which is a great testament to her piano teaching skills. Rachel has proved herself over the last year to be a patient, nurturing teacher, particularly adept at finding creative ways to teach very young students – most often the hardest age group to teach as they have short concentration spans! Her students have gone from complete beginners to confident players. We were all delighted when 4 year old Theo won 2nd place in the Under 6s class at The Beckenham Festival!
Rachel’s student Hannah recently played onstage with the Southbank Sinfonia at Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square. Hannah also took part in a half-term challenge to learn a piece in a week. Here she is playing North West of Inverness by Graham Lynch.
Despite a specialism in EYFS teaching and training with the British Kodaly Academy, Rachel does teach beyond this level and has older students and adults that are working towards grades. Her exam results for students are impressive with Distinctions at Grade 1 ABRSM in theory and practical exams.
If you have read the blog posts for vacancies, you will notice that spaces with Rachel hardly ever come up which just shows how in demand her teaching time is! Rachel has been fully booked for months and despite a long waiting list for Saturday lessons, we have been unable to fit in any new students for her since September 2011.
I would like to thank Rachel for all her hard work and impressive results over the last year. In addition to this, Rachel’s organisation skills and professionalism help immensely with the smooth running of the school and she is an invaluable member of our teaching practice. I am looking forward to many more successful years of piano teaching at The SE22 Piano School!
