SE22 Piano School October 2012 Newsletter

There’s never a quiet term for us and the Autumn term is no exception! We have four young pianists sitting their first ABRSM examinations; a syllabus about to be published for the Dulwich Piano Festival; a school trip during the half-term; several students auditioning for secondary school music scholarships and a huge concert being planned for January 2013.

1) School trip to Handel House Museum
Our graded exam students of all ages will be visiting this beautiful museum hidden away in the hustle and bustle of Bond Street. We will be dressing up in Georgian clothing, learning about Handel’s life and most importantly, playing a reproduction harpsichord in a masterclass with Christopher Bucknall.

2) Secondary School Music Scholarships
Many of the state schools in Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham have excellent music departments and select around 10% of their intake on music scholarships. Our students have been preparing for these test using the Music Aptitude Tests online. We are wishing Inigo the very best of luck with his second-stage audition which is today!

    Hello,
I am finding your emails very inspiring for new ideas with my teaching. I am a private piano teacher in the Tavistock area in Devon. We have just finished running a charity event for Clic Sargent which so far has raised £330. I am already thinking of new ideas for new events.

    • Hi Jill, thanks for the feedback! My students are visiting a museum soon to play the harpsichords and try out their A List exam pieces. Perhaps you have something nearby-ish that your students could do something similar?
