This recital is a special concert in the beautiful setting of the Conservatory to celebrate the The Art of Harmony exhibition. World class musicians John Irving and Jane Booth will perform Sonatas and Duos for clarinet and fortepiano by Mozart and his contemporary Vanhal on copies of instruments from Mozart’s time. In association with the Friends of the Horniman as part of the Thursday Lates series.

Bringing together musical instruments on loan from the V&A and from the Horniman, The Art of Harmony explores traditions of Western classical music and the role of instruments as makers of music, works of art and emblems of social status.

A display of rarely seen archival material examines how and why these collections came into being and looks behind the scenes at their life in the museum.
